What a fine morning for a time trial - sunny with virtually no wind! Of the thirty-eight people who had ridden this course earlier, 18 improved upon their previous best on this course - and that included Sara Domina who started 3 minutes and 47 seconds after her official start time, and would have included Wendy Blagdon had she not arrived at the start line five and a half minutes late! The most improved of these was Mike Dupuis, out on a fast new Cervelo. As well, of the twelve of us who also rode on the chilly 40km Calabogie opener on 2009-May-31, nine improved upon that earlier performance. The day was remarkable in that twelve men broke the hour mark (here are all of their 40km times on this course), and that the fastest woman, Allison McKay, who had only ridden this course once before in 2003, in 14th place overall, was only 40 seconds over the hour. Congratulations to Rick Sudac for setting the new male Vet D record for 40km. His time here today was more than 2 minutes faster than Gary Romkey's former record on the faster Fournier course, and more than 3 minutes faster than Gary's best on the Calabogie course. Here are the results after applying the age-gender handicaps generated from the British VTTA method. Hopefully most will make it out to the easier Fournier course next Sunday to see how their times compare on the two courses. Meanwhile, for your curiousity, here is a graph showing how consistent people are between their best ATT 40km and best OBC 15km TT in 2009, whereas here is a graph that shows the consistency between the hillier ABC 15km course and the ABC Calabogie course for 2009.

By the way, Bernard Durand, who runs The Foodery catering business, rolled out a cart of wonderful pastries after the event to reload the carbohydrate stores in our muscles. Thank you very much Bernard for your kindness in sharing your skills with us - They were enjoyed!

Thanks to our Helpers: Timekeeper John Warren was ably assisted by Sherry Warren at the turn; and by Les Humphreys at the start and finish - and much thanks goes to Bernard Durand ( www.foodery.com) for the goodies he brought for the post time trial carbo-reloading!
